The Workforce Development Department works with the Teslin Post-Secondary Education and Training Committee (TETC) to administer post-secondary education assistance and bring awareness of post-secondary opportunities. The Workforce Development Department provides support and encouragement to meet the post-secondary education needs of students. The Teslin Tlingit Council (TTC) encourages and supports Citizens to identify and reach their career ambitions. Courses are offered for TTC Citizens and employees to help expand the skills required in their current job or develop skills for new job opportunities.

 

Funding for Post-Secondary Education

The TTC offers supplementary funding for Citizens attending post-secondary education. The funding is available to supplement students’ financial sponsorship from other funding sources such as Yukon Government Student Financial Assistance, Individual Universities and Colleges bursaries and scholarships. For all Teslin Tlingit Council Citizens attending a summer or fall semester at a recognized post-secondary institution:

Applications for student financial assistance will be accepted in mid-March. Any late applications will be deferred to the next intake date in mid-November.

Students must declare all funding to the Workforce Development Department within 10 days of receiving funds. Failure to declare funds will affect future funding applications.

The budget for this program is limited and therefore cannot be utilized as a sole source of funding for post-secondary education.

Fill out the Post-Secondary Education Financial Assistance Form (PDF) and return it to the Workforce Development Department.
