The Teslin Tlingit Council (TTC) signed an Administration of Justice Agreement (AJA) with the governments of Canada and Yukon on February 21, 2011. The AJA provides for the recognition and establishment of a Peacemaker Court which has the authority to resolve disputes and adjudicate violations under Teslin Tlingit law in accordance with Teslin Tlingit principles and values. The Teslin Tlingit General Council enacted the Peacemaker Court and Justice Council Act on November 24, 2011 resulting in the establishment of the Teslin Tlingit Peacemaker Court.
The Justice Department supports the implementation of the Administration of Justice Agreement (AJA), provides administrative support to the Justice Council and arranges Peacemaker Training.
